Between 1964 and 1970, Pierre Culot worked with various architects to design ceramic claustras, perforated screens used in both private and public spaces. He developed a visual language rooted in simple geometric foundations, primarily squares and rectangles, into which he integrated one or more abstract shapes. Partly inspired by a visual alphabet created by painter Victor Vasarely in 1959, Culot explored the depth and orientation of these forms to play with light and shadow across the surface.
