Pierre Culot (1938–2011) was a Belgian ceramist, sculptor, and designer whose practice moved fluidly between functional pottery, sculpture, and architectural interventions. Trained at Maredsous Abbey and La Cambre in Brussels, he worked with Antoine de Vinck and studied under Bernard Leach in Cornwall, drawing from both European traditions and the Japanese Mingei movement.

His early works were utilitarian pieces, bowls, plates, and jugs, crafted with precision yet rooted in the tactile presence of clay. Over time, his approach expanded into bold sculptural forms and monumental ceramic structures, including walls, garden pieces, and integrated architectural elements. Culot was equally drawn to landscape, developing his property at Roux-Miroir as a living laboratory where ceramics, sculpture, and nature coexisted.

His œuvre reflects a deep respect for material honesty, craftsmanship, and the dialogue between art and environment. Today, his workshop and archive continue to preserve and share his legacy, reissuing works from original molds.
